  Macdonald Stewart Grand Aggregate

The Canadian Gold Cross (CGC) and Silver Cross (CSC) are shown above. These are awarded to the first and second place in the Grand Aggregate competition.

The Macdonald Stewart Grand Aggregate

The Macdonald Stewart Grand Aggregate is an annual competition held during August at the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association's Meeting at Connaught Ranges. The 8 matches with 17 shoots at various distances, that make up the competition (giving a maximum possible score of 830), take place over 7 days.

Alain Marion (a Canadian ex-policeman) holds the record for the most number (10) of Grand Aggregate wins.
Prior to 1935, an NRA Silver Medal was awarded to the winner of the Macdonald Stewart Grand Aggregate, after which, a DCRA Silver Medal was awarded for first place and a Bronze Medal for second place. In 1950, these medals were changed for Silver and Bronze crosses. From 1980, the current Gold, Silver and Bronze crosses have been presented for the top 3 places. The Gold and Silver Crosses earn the recipients the rights to the letters (CGC) and (CSC) respectively after their names.
