Percentage check of TR competitors chambers at the Imperial Meeting 2017
To the Secretary General

In accordance with normal practice, and as instructed by you on the advice of Shooting Committee, I arranged to have a percentage check of competitors chambers carried out. The check was completed on the morning of 17 July.

The following headline figures can be extracted:

96 competitors were called for testing - selected at random by index number.

Three competitors did not respond:
One was shooting MR only
One will shoot HM The Queen's Prize only and at the time of writing has not arrived.
One was a member of an overseas team sharing rifles and thus does not have a dedicated individual firearm.

Sixteen competitors presented two rifles, thus 109 rifles were checked.

Eight rifles, owned by seven members, failed the check. Four subsequently passed after cleaning and four required action by a gunsmith.

The purpose of this check is to provide assurance as to the proper operation of the underlying scheme of measuring and marking.
