Gallery Rifle - Spring Action Weekend (National Shooting Centre (NSC), Bisley) (National Shooting Centre (NSC), Bisley)

This is the first of three 'Action Weekends' servicing Gallery Rifle and Pistol, Target Shotgun, Civilian Service Rifle and the McQueen communities to encourage action shooting.

Typical competitions are Advancing Target, the 1500 Match, Bianchi, Timed & Precision, McQueen events, 200 yds prone and sitting, and the Speed Steel Challenge, with new courses of fire.

This year for the first time the NRA are offering Historic Arms matches during the Gallery Rifle Spring Action weekend. The idea is to offer more Historic Arms matches spread throughout the year culminating in the Trafalgar meeting in October.

Matches available during the SAW will include both Gallery Rifle historic matches such as the bobber and advancing, together with popular 100 & 200 yds matches.

In total over 60 historic matches are on offer.

Useful information relevant to this event can be found in the current NRA GR&P handbook that incorporates the booklet for the Phoenix Meeting.

Sat 04 Apr Historic Service Rifle Match (National Shooting Centre (NSC), Bisley)

Following the successful trial event held in October 2014, we are staging another Historic SR Match on the afternoon of Saturday 4 April.

Entries to the trial event were overwhelmingly for British Service Rifles, thus for this match we are restricting the classes to British SR only in SR(a) and (Open).

The Course of Fire (CoF) is based on military practices with standard Fig 11 and Fig 12 targets, shooting from standing, kneeling, sitting and prone. There are no Run Downs included!

The HBSA and LERA have been involved in the development of the event, which has been scheduled the day before the final day of the 2014/15 Civ SR League. Competitors will meet at the 300x car park on Century (Butt 19) at 1300 hrs for a mandatory Range Briefing, with the match shot in the afternoon only, followed by prize giving on range at approx 1730 hrs.

We hope owners of British historic Service Rifles will take up the challenge.

The Course of Fire is based on military practices with standard Fig 11 and Fig 12 targets. There are no Run Downs included.

The HBSA and LERA were involved in the development of the event, which has been scheduled the day before the start of the CivSR Winter League.

Sun 04 Oct Civilian Service Rifle (Winter league) (National Shooting Centre (NSC), Bisley)

This popular Winter League competition is running from October 2015 to April 2016. The Courses of Fire (CoF) for the first event includes 3 matches to make best use of the range space:

AM we will all shoot the Short Range Rural Contact (SRRC) Match on Century, then PM we will split into two groups and shoot the Urban Contact Match and the Infantry Individual Match. For the purposes of the new Winter League, the three matches will stand as separate events, thus it will be the best 10 matches from a possible 15 to count for League positions.

The confirmed dates for the 2015/16 season so far are:

Sun 4 Oct 2015

Sat 7 Nov 2015

Sun 6 Dec 2015

Sat 9 Jan 2016

Sun 7 Feb 2016

Sat 5 Mar 2016

Sun 3 Apr 2016

For those new to Civ SR, we run 'Introduction to Civ SR' courses - check the NRA calendar for the next available course. These are run by highly experienced shooters and involve classroom work and lots of practical coaching on the range.

Shooting Division handles administration and organisational matters whilst Mark Bradley can answer any discipline or technical queries.
