The Trafalgar Meeting 2017 (National Shooting Centre (NSC), Bisley)

This Meeting is full of character, with competitors seen entering into the spirit of the event and some wearing appropriate clothing for the firearms used at the time.

The guns being used attract attention especially when, what is basically a museum piece, can be seen in full operational glory. This offers the pleasurable opportunity to use, view and handle historical, classic and vintage arms. Museums and private collectors do preserve our heritage firearms, however practical use by shooters with knowledge of these guns adds another dimension. These firearms being shot across the ranges is a reminder of the history of their development, from flint muzzle-loader or matchlock, to breech-loading nitro cartridge firearms.

There is also something for the collector at the Arms Fair over the weekend - a good opportunity to search for those hard-to-find pieces of kit as well as to discover new items for a collection.

Autumn Action Weekend (National Shooting Centre (NSC), Bisley) (National Shooting Centre (NSC), Bisley)

The Autumn Action Weekend - 28-29 October 2017

The last of the Gallery Rifle Action events - the Autumn Action Weekend - will take place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 2017. This will be the last opportunity of the year to shoot the range of matches on offer in GR&P, full-bore rifle, target shotgun and practical pistol here at Bisley.

On Butt Zero on Saturday we will have Target Shotgun matches all day, and Speed Steels running until mid afternoon, followed by the popular Man v Man competition. Sunday includes the 7th Round of the NRA Handgun League.

Elsewhere multi-positional full-bore shooting runs side by side with the 200 yd McQueen matches on Short Siberia on Saturday, with the increasingly popular Mini McQueen throughout the weekend on Time Limit.

This Meeting offers fun and competitive shooting for entrants of all levels with the usual range of discounts to encourage new shooters to Bisley, the Under 25s and those looking to shoot more matches.

The Ages Match (National Shooting Centre (NSC), Bisley) (National Shooting Centre (NSC), Bisley)

The Ages Match is a battle over Short and Long Range to see which age group reigns as champions in the world of Target Rifle. There are teams for the following six groupings: Under 25s, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64 and over 65s.

Following feedback from the TR community, this year the match will be staged on a single day - Saturday 28 October. Some of the Bisley clubs are planning functions on the Saturday night, and we hope this format will encourage all teams to take part; enjoying a fun but competitive end of season shoot followed by a social evening on the Halloween weekend.

The match will be shot in two stages: Short Range AM and Long Range PM, on NRA targets, with Prize Giving at 17.30 on Stickledown. Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams plus the highest individual in each team.

We welcome the formation of teams and team captains are requested to promote this event early to encourage participation across all age groups.

Keith Pugh is the confirmed team captain for over 65s. Could other team captains please step forward soonest!

If you wish to put your name forward for a team, please email sharon.baker@nra.org.uk
